1. Determine the construction location, excavate the flue duct, mark the ground for the chimney, and establish the position of the wood-burning stove (the stove’s shape can be either round or square, as per your requirements). Mark the walls accordingly. Determine the height of the wood-burning stove (the stove top height is typically 78 cm). Excavate the flue duct opening in the wall (ensure that the opening is properly sealed with mortar). Construct the chimney outside the house, making sure it extends above the roof; otherwise, smoke will easily enter the home.
2. Build the stove body—use common bricks to construct the stove body, including the stove door and ash discharge opening. PS: Measure continuously as you build, paying attention to dimensions, levelness, and other relevant parameters.
3. The firebox has been constructed using fire-resistant bricks, and the space between the stove body and the firebox has been filled with crushed sand and gravel (a solid filling helps prevent smoke leakage while also enhancing strength and extending the stove’s lifespan).
4. Fill in the insulation material and protect the firebox interior with brick sand, preparing it for refractory mortar application. Proceed with the refractory mortar work on the stove surface (making sure to compact it thoroughly). Use a pot to firmly press down the refractory mortar above the firebox—this pot will later be installed in this very spot. Finally, smooth and shape the refractory mortar to achieve the desired finish.
5. Remove the brick sand that was added to the firebox in the previous step (at this point, make sure the fire-resistant mortar has gained sufficient strength before proceeding with construction). Then, excavate a flue and a fire-retaining ring within the circular pit created by the pressure cooker. (Doesn’t this look remarkably similar to the outer wall of a tiger stove? That’s right—this is precisely the technique!)
6. These two small pots were already in place before the insulation material and fire-resistant mortar were applied, with the purpose of absorbing preheating heat. When filled with water, they can be turned into warm water. At all points where the pots come into contact with the fire-resistant mortar, reinforcing bars have been used to encase the pots, ensuring their stability and firmness. The stove surface has been leveled with mortar to reach the desired height—typically around 78 cm.
7. Once it’s built, you can’t use it right away—you’ll need to wait 15 days to ensure that the cement and other materials have fully set. Using it immediately would deplete the moisture that should have been reserved for the cement to harden properly. In that case, forget about using it for 15 years—there wouldn’t even be any problem if you tried to use it for just one year.
